WHAT HAPPENED?
Galatasaray saw their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League group stage go up in smoke when, needing to score late on, their Swiss opponents set off on a blistering counter-attack in the 87th minute that culminated in Virginius lifting the ball over Muslera and into the net. The goal made it 4-2 to Young Boys on aggregate and the Galatasaray 'keeper reacted to the decisive finish with a moment of madness, tripping Virginius up as the winger ran past him to celebrate.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Galatasaray would have felt confident about overturning a 3-2 deficit from the first leg, considering the return fixture was played in front of their own fans. But despite attempting 17 shots, Irfan Saraloglu's side were unable to find a way past Young Boys goalkeeper Marvin Keller and will miss out on the group stage, instead dropping to the Europa League.
